I have 26 years experience as a production typographer. I am trade-trained, having gone through an International Typographical Union Apprenticeship Program when I first started my trade. I am knowledgeable in all facets of print media. My experience working in type shops trained me to be fast, clean, efficient, and very involved in keeping to production schedules.  Lately my main focus has been on book work, however, I do any type of work from brochures to annual reports to small and large ads.  My forté is as a production typographer. I work in the Macintosh environment, use QuarkXpress, Illustrator, and Photoshop and have knowledge in Pagemaker. My rates are very competitive and upfront quotes are given at request.

I specialize in text and book cover design, illustration, and text composition. Using industry standard software (QuarkXpress, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop on a Macintosh platform), I will interface with your production facilities easily. With extensive experience in four color printing and proofing, I manage projects from concept to electronic mechanical—always adhering to your budget, schedule, marketing position, and production priorities.

Cover and Jacket Design:  I design book covers and jackets as well as logos, ads, and catalogs for publishers.  I have been recognized with awards for both text and cover design by Book Builders West, a professional association based in San Francisco which promotes publishing excellence in the Western states.

Book Design: I strive for excellence in typography. When designing text, I create typographic design solutions that are harmonious in all elements—finding a perfect representation for the content of the book at hand.

Logistics: My clients are located around the country.  I handle day-to-day communication by e-mail.  I use the Internet for file transmission when files are not too large.  Overnight carriers handle my color proofs and Zip disks.
